Dish Soap Isn’t Just For Dirty Dishes. Here Are 11 Surprising Uses

We all have at least a bottle of dish soap in our house, but we are letting it go waste by using it on dirty dishes only. It turns out that this stain fighting, grease removing, and the non-toxic solution is ideal for cleaning many things around the house.
You can use it as shampoo, kill weeds with it, lift stains from clothes, unclog the toilet, and even keep ants at bay! Read on to learn more about this miracle solution!

1. Shampoo
Using dish soap once a month not only removes excess oil, but it removes any lingering product that a shampoo is unable to get out.

2. Non-toxic de-icer
If you are fed up with using toxic chemicals to keep the sidewalks ice-free during winter, this is ideal for you.  All you have to do is to mix a teaspoon of dish soap with a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol and a half a gallon of water, and pour the mixture over the sidewalks.  You can be sure that they will not freeze!

3. Removes oil and grease stains from clothing
Have you spilled a salad dressing on your shirt? The good news is that it is not ruined and there is a way to de-grease it. Simply put some dish soap directly onto the stain and the soap will suck it up in a matter of minutes.

4. Prevent glasses fog
As strange as it seems, rubbing a drop of dish soap on the glasses helps wipe it off without any rinsing. The soap works by leaving a film that prevents the glasses from fogging.

5. Non-toxic weed killer
There is no need to spend a little fortune on toxic solutions anymore! Alternatively, mix a teaspoon of dish soap with a cup of salt in a gallon of white vinegar. Transfer the mixture in a spray bottle and spray as needed.

6. Clean dirty jewelry
Mix a drop of dish soap with seltzer water in a bowl and toss your jewelry in the mixture. Soak it for a few minutes and rub it with a cloth, if needed.

7. Repels ants
Mix your soap with some water and use it to wipe down all counters. This solution leaves an invisible film that ants cannot stand.  The best part: it is completely safe for your food, for you, and your family.

8.  Homemade ice pack
Fill a plastic freezer bag with a cup of rubbing alcohol, two cups of water, and some dish soap. Place it in the freezer for at least an hour.  The dish soap has a gel-like consistency and helps retain the cold.  When ready, put a towel between the gel pack to avoid burning the skin.

9. Household lubricant
Instead of using aerosol sprays that tend to get all over the place, use some dish soap! It is easy to use, non-toxic, safe and will keep things working well, including door hinges and sliding glass doors.

10. Get streak-free windows
Mix a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle filled with water. Spray on the windows and wipe away. Simple as that!

11. Unclogs the toilet
Pour a cup of dish soap in the toilet bowl, let it work for about fifteen minutes, and then pour a bucket of hot water.
